Endemic: species specific to a geographical area and found nowhere else in the world. It can be said that Madagascar has a rate of endemism of around 80 or even 90%, one of the highest on the planet.
This particularity makes it a very coveted island by the predators of the big pharmaceutical companies, who want to "patent" the plants and also their active principles. Our Ancients have known for centuries the pharmacopoeia: all tricks are used to seize and monopolize this knowledge, including pseudo NGOs mysteriously subsidized by some very powerful groups.
